Peter Abrahams is the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he leads the University’s enterprise health, safety and wellbeing strategy, governance and risk management programs. He is responsible for overseeing UTS’s approach to physical and psychosocial health and safety, creating environments where people can work and learn safely while supporting organisational resilience, wellbeing and performance.

Peter is a recognised health, safety and risk executive with more than 25 years’ experience across higher education, transport, infrastructure, construction, energy and heavy industry. Prior to joining UTS, he held senior health and safety leadership roles with organisations including Ampol (formerly Caltex Australia), Ventia, Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW. In these roles, he led enterprise health and safety strategies, governance frameworks, management systems and critical risk programs across large, complex and high-risk environments. His experience spans frontline operations through to executive leadership, with a strong focus on organisational culture, leadership capability, risk management and operational excellence.

Alongside his role at UTS, Peter is the Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Innovate Risk Solutions Group, advising executives, boards and senior leaders on health and safety strategy, governance, organisational effectiveness and risk management. His consulting work spans major public and private sector organisations, including Transport for NSW, Sydney Metro and Quantem, and he is an experienced expert witness in work health and safety and risk-related matters.

Peter is a regular contributor to industry and sector discussions on workplace health and safety, psychosocial risk management, leadership capability and organisational culture in complex environments.
