Dr Adèlle Liebenberg

Dr Adèlle Liebenberg is a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Hygiene and Health and Safety at the University of Wollongong, a Certified Occupational Hygienist and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH), with more than 20 years’ experience across industry, consulting, research and education. Her work focuses on occupational exposure science and the prevention of occupational disease, with particular interests in how exposure and health data can be better used to understand risk, strengthen prevention and inform policy and practice. Her research spans high-risk industries including mining and emergency services, with current work examining airborne contaminants, cumulative exposure, health surveillance and longer-term approaches to understanding worker health.

Adèlle has authored more than 30 research and professional publications and has presented her work at national and international conferences. She works closely with industry, regulators and professional bodies to translate occupational health evidence into policy, guidance and practice. Her recent contributions include co-authoring Safe Work Australia’s technical guidance on air monitoring and workplace exposure limits.

She currently serves as Honorary Secretary of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists and teaches and supervises postgraduate research in occupational hygiene at the University of Wollongong.
