Dr Farnad Nasirzadeh is an Associate Professor of Construction Management at Deakin University and Director of the Workforce Safety and Performance Research and Innovation Group (https://wspri.deakin.edu.au/). His research applies emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence, wearable sensors, and computer vision—to improve worker safety, wellbeing and performance.
With approximately 20 years of research and consulting experience, Dr Nasirzadeh has contributed to major industry projects addressing construction safety, workforce fatigue and work design. His work has received national and international recognition, including research awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers and the International Project Management Association.
His strong focus on worker consultation, research integrity and data confidentiality has enabled him to establish collaborations with the CFMEU, Incolink and leading Australian construction companies. He has also played a pioneering role in advancing the use of wearable technologies in Australian construction to support evidence-based safety decision-making.
