Yvonne is currently the Director Safety for NSW TrainLink, overseeing Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environment for operational and support staff for rail and coach services across NSW and into Victoria, Queensland and ACT.
Yvonne has led a number of different safety functions across Transport for NSW, including Human Factors/Ergonomics team and safety teams. As a certified professional ergonomist (CPE), and having worked closely with Engineers, Yvonne applies systems thinking in her approach to safety and risk management activities. This includes looking at how all parts of a complex system interact and interrelate, rather than considering issues individually.
Wellbeing in the safety-critical rail environment in particular is a current key focus area for Yvonne and her team at NSW TrainLink. This includes programs such as peer support volunteers and mental health first aiders, working with others across Transport on psychosocial programs and initiatives.
In a previous life, Yvonne worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and maintains her close connection with Physiotherapy. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Occupational Health Committee and provides APA professional developed upskilling to Physiotherapists in the area of occupational health.
