Ryan Hurley

A senior safety executive with over 18 years’ experience specialising in safety management systems, risk analysis, and safety performance improvement across complex, high-risk and regulated environments. His career spans aviation, transport, utilities and national logistics operations, supporting large, geographically dispersed workforces.

Ryan currently leads safety systems and regulatory functions within the aviation sector, where he is responsible for designing and embedding enterprise-level Safety Management Systems, strengthening risk management and assurance frameworks, and delivering meaningful safety performance analysis to executive and board audiences. He has deep expertise in translating safety data into actionable insights, enabling leaders to understand risk exposure, control effectiveness and emerging trends.

Previously, Ryan held senior safety systems and governance roles at Australia Post, where he led the redesign of the enterprise WHS Management System, implemented digital safety platforms, and significantly improved the quality and use of safety data and reporting. He has also led fatigue risk management, human factors, investigation and audit functions within aviation, including the development of regulator-approved systems and advanced safety performance dashboards.

Ryan is passionate about building modern, data-driven safety systems that support informed decision-making, strengthen risk controls, and drive sustainable safety performance across complex operations.
