Chanelle McEnallay is the Group Chief Safety Officer of Ramsay Health Care Limited. This role looks at safety management systems of all the Ramsay facilities in the group, covering eight countries, over 530 hospitals and clinics who see more than 12 million patients and admissions every year.
Prior to this new role in 2025 Chanelle was the Chief Legal and Risk Officer of Ramsay Health Care Australia. Chanelle has managed a wide portfolio in her 21 years with Ramsay which included the risk management framework of Australia, work health and safety, workers’ compensation, the Comcare self-insurance licence, environment, CSR, sustainability, diversity and inclusion (DEIB) and the national public liability portfolio.
Chanelle is also the Executive lead for the National Speak Up Program, a human factors and promoting professional accountability framework. Ramsay is Australia’s largest private hospital operator and currently employs over 33,000 staff in Australia alone, more than 88,000 worldwide. Chanelle has been a safety and workers’ compensation professional for 29 years and began her safety career in the construction industry specialising in rail and coal mining before moving to health in 2004. Chanelle is passionate about psychological safety, early intervention injury management, robust and innovative safety and risk management systems that are pragmatic and add value. Chanelle is an experienced ASX50 Chief Risk Officer, Work Health and Safety Professional, Injury Manager, Advanced Rehabilitation and Return to Work Manager, Workers’ Compensation Specialist, Workplace Trainer and Assessor, Auditor, holds advanced qualifications in OHS and Corporate Governance and is an admitted NSW Supreme Court Solicitor. Chanelle also holds a Master of Laws from ANU and is a Director of the Board of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety.
