Mechanisms for Creating Mentally Healthy Workplaces
Wednesday 25 March

Knowledge Hub

In this presentation, a representative from the Psychological Health Unit (Office of Industrial Relations), will explore practical and evidence-based mechanisms for creating mentally healthy workplaces, guided by the Mentally Healthy Workplaces Toolkit from WorkSafe Queensland. A mentally healthy workplace doesn’t just benefit individuals, it supports organisational performance, reduces absenteeism and injury claims, and enhances job satisfaction. We will unpack how organisations can build environments that promote positive practices, reduce or eliminate psychological harm via the identification, assessment and control of psychosocial hazards, intervene early when risks are identified, and effectively support the recovery of workers returning after a physical or psychological injury. You will gain an understanding of the key components of a mentally healthy workplace, including risk identification and management, leadership and culture, stigma-free support systems, and practical actions that leaders, managers and teams can take to foster employee wellbeing.
