Safe Manual Handling Seminar at Douglas Partners Lab Event
On July 26th 2024, AusRehab had the pleasure of speaking at Douglas Partners’ Lab Event at Novotel Sydney Olympic Park. It was a fantastic platform for us to advocate for the importance of safe manual handling, which is crucial for ensuring workplace safety and efficiency.
Presentation Highlights
Our presentation was delivered by two of our highly experienced exercise physiologists (EPs), Zara Khan and Sung Lee. The talk focused on the importance of proper manual handling techniques to reduce workplace injury. The 30-minute session covered:
- Key statistics: Insightful data on the prevalence of manual handling injuries and their impact on technicians and trades workers.
- Principles of good manual handling: Tips for maintaining good posture and balance to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
- Use of automatic equipment: Underscoring how use of automatic equipment can significantly reduce physical strain and risk of injury, which enhances work processes and improves workforce quality.
- Demonstrations for relevant injury-prone tasks: An in-depth examination of high injury-risk tasks such as lifting, moving, hammering, and compacting. Our EPs highlighted common mistakes, and demonstrated proper form.
- Dynamic stretches: Quick and easy exercises that can be incorporated into daily routines to prevent injury and promote long-term musculoskeletal health.
Participants gained valuable knowledge about:
