Halil Ahmet
Principal Occupational Hygienist
Halil Ahmet is the Principal Occupational Hygienist at WorkSafe Victoria, where he leads a team of Occupational Hygienists and serves as an Inspector under the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Dangerous Goods Act. With over three decades of experience at WorkSafe Victoria since 1990, he has conducted inspections at hundreds of workplaces, addressing a broad range of occupational hazards, including silica, asbestos, welding fumes, isocyanates, noise, heat, and Q fever. Halil has actively contributed to national discussions on silica-related guidance development and has engaged extensively with stonemasons, construction sites, quarries, and manufacturers to mitigate silica health risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, he has played a key role in training WorkSafe Inspectors on hygiene-related topics, particularly silica regulations and industry-specific controls. His expertise has been instrumental in shaping the Victorian Crystalline Silica Regulations 2021, providing valuable technical input to enhance workplace safety standards.
